New Ships Orders

The best (and the biggest) is yet to come.

Order books are full and shipyards are on full steam. 

Royal Caribbean International: 

  • Oasis of the Seas, 220,000 tons, 5,400 berths  - Biggest ever by far, expected in Fall 2009
  • Allure of the Seas, second in Oasis (Genesis) class, August 2010
 

Carnival:

 
  • Carnival Splendor, 112,00 tons, 3,006 berths , Biggest Carnival so far, expected in July 2008
  • Carnival Dream, 130,000, 3,652 berths will take the title of biggest Carnival in October 2009
  • Carnival Magic second in Dream class coming in June 2011
 

Celebrity:

 
  • Solstice, 122,000 tons, 2,850 berths. New design for biggest Celebrity ship, coming in December 2008
  • Equinox, sister of Solstice expected in Fall 2009
  • Eclipse, third sister in solstice class, June 2010
 Princes Cruises will introduce Ruby Princess in November 2008, that will be 113,000 tons, 3,080 berths third sister ship of Crown and Emerald Princesses 

MSC Cruises:

 
  • MSC Fantasia 133,500 tons, 3,300 berths biggest MSC's ship is coming in November 2008
  • MSC Splendida, second sister, Spring 2009
  • MSC Magnifica,  sister to Musica, 86,600 tons, 2,500 berths , Fall 2010
 

Costa:

 
  • Costa Luminosa “only” 92,700 tons, 2,260 berths, Spring 2009
  • Costa Pacifica, 130,000 tons,  3,652 berths third sister in Serena and Concordia class, expected to sail in Spring 2009 as well
  • Luminosa new sister will have maiden voyage in March 2010

 NCL will introudouce two new class 150,000 tons ships in 2010, with 4,200 passengers capacity (needles to say biggest NCL's ever) and unique feature: all cabins will be with balconies ! 

Disney will DOUBLE their fleet in 2011 and 2012 ( from 2 to 4 ships). New vessels will be 122,000 tons and will accomodate 2,500 passengers. 

Cunard will replace Queen Elisabeth 2 with new Queen Elisabeth in in Fall 2010. 

Holland America will add Eurodam's class new ship in Fall 2010. 

All other companies doen't sleep either. In this very moment new ships building also: Pearl Seas Cruises, Silversea, Aida, P&O, Seabourn, Oceania... 

Will oceans soon be overcrowded?  I know for fact that some ports already are.
